15 lessons from the eWomen conference

15 Things I learned at my last eWomen International conference

  1. Price is only an issue in the absence of value. I have heard this many times, but it really hit home this time.  2015 has been a year of letting go for me.  Letting go of those that do not fit and accepting my own value.  So when Cheri Tree shared this saying – it hit the mark with me.  When we grow and take more risks, more people that want to work with us; even if they are not a good fit.    Price becomes an issue for those that don’t see the value of the service.  Cheri teaches how to connect with prospects and communicate value for every personality.
  2. “The best salesperson outsells an average one by a ratio of 57:1” Cheri Tree.  Tweet: “The best salesperson outsells an average one by a ratio of 57:1” @CheriTree Via @SeegerN   Learn to sell to your prospects.
  3. “The best way to increase revenue is to shorten the sales cycle.” Cheri Tree. Tweet: “The best way to increase revenue is to shorten the sales cycle.” @CheriTree. Via @SeegerN
  4. Marketing is about momentum, but sales is about velocity. SeegerN Tweet: Marketing is about momentum, but sales is about velocity. @SeegerN
  5. “Your actions become your habits…” Master the Habit loop to excel.   Noah St. John did a great job of explaining how to reprogram habits for success. Tweet: “Your actions become your habits…” Master the Habit loop to excel. @noahstjohn Via @SeegerN
  6. “Whatever I put out there comes back to me – the lessons I give I will also get” Sandra Yancey. Did you ever wonder if the teaching we give our clients are also things we need to know?  No matter what I am teaching; there are lessons for me also.  Things keep coming back into our focus when there is something there we need to understand. 7. People let me into their businesses and for that I am grateful. I am grateful for the level of trust required to share their private information.  I am grateful because I have an opportunity to show them how successful they already are.
  8. We see what we need to see. We randomly pulled “goddess cards” and shared the messages with each other.  Over the days and discussions, it became clear how “we see what we need to see”.  No two people had the same reaction to; or interpretation of the same card.
  9. “No one can whistle a symphony alone; it takes an orchestra” Sandra Yancey. You need support no matter how you go about your business.  Even in the beginning we need circles to help keep us vibrant. 10. “How you live is how you heal” Dr. Manon Bolliger Tweet: “How you live is how you heal” @DrManonBolliger Via @SeegerN
  11. Distractions = destruction. In business, this is very real.
  12. “What is your talk-to-do ratio?” Mathew Knowles. Are you doing more than you are saying you will do?
  13. “With a lot of successes, also comes a lot of negativity” Mathew Knowles.
  14. “Hire people that know the process” Laura Herring. Doing it all ourselves can save time and money. Hiring someone that knows the process can get you there faster. Tweet: “Hire people that know the process” @LauraNoFear
  15. “Deflate your insecurities – No one knows about you until you tell them.” Jaeny Baik. A great presenter on how to do your own simple videos.  She taught me tons even in just a few moments.  Listen to her if you get a chance. Tweet: “Deflate your insecurities – No one knows about you until you tell them.” @jaenyb Via @SeegerN

BIG BONUS ITEMS:

  1. “Write a value statement for your company. Then recite those values every day” Dina Dwyer-Owens. Value statements for a company bring so much clarity to the team and all decisions. 2. “Happiness is the joy you feel moving toward your potential” Shawn Achor. Shawn is all about happiness.  Even though I have his books – I found his talk refreshing and his humor engaging.  Check out his TED talks, or books on Amazon.
